C. M. Science College was founded during the colonial period in the year 1938 and it became on of the premier educational institutes in the field of science education over the period of time. During its academic and administrative voyage, it achieved many milestones and it proved its worth in imparting quality education across India and some parts of Nepal.

This is the only college of L. N. Mithila University, Darbhanga which has been accredited with A grade that is the historic achievement in its journey. The college is devoted and dedicated to disseminating holistic education for the all round developments of students who can become better human beings and the finest citizens.

C. M. Science College spread over five acre campus which is wi-fi enabled, ICT equipped class rooms, well maintained digitally enabled library, well equipped laboratories, environmental friendly infrastructure and disable friendly systems. This college offers wide spectrum of courses such as undergraduate, postgraduate, and add-on courses which are pursued by more than 1500 students. A staff strength of 98 including teaching, non-teaching and out-sourcing staff. It spans over eight departments belonging to science and humanities.

Research is an indispensable part of curriculum which is promoted through innovative initiatives such as seminar, conference, lecture, assignment etc. to students. The emphasis is given to the effective use of ICT tools like PPTs, videos etc. Effectiveness of the curriculum delivery is also judged through internal evaluation in CIA examinations and assignments prior to the University examinations. Attendance record also helps in internal assessment.

Induction programme (UG and PG separately) is organized every year for newly admitted students to make them aware of the mechanism for curriculum delivery and its implementation.

The routine committee of the college prepares the Master Routine for UG and PG classes; the courses are conducted by different departments of the college, at the beginning of 1st semester to orient the students to bridge the gap of University questions pattern and to identify slow and advanced learners. The college strictly implements the syllabus and the academic calendar notified by the University.
